Hello, I am Yuko Ozeki, JCFN North America Staff.
I am currently in Japan. This is the first time in 9 years that we have returned to Japan as a family.
On my first day, I took my daughters to a hair salon and they experienced a small culture shock.
“Mommy, the hairdresser said to me after shamping “OTSUKARESAMA DESITA (You must be so tired). Why? I was just laying down. SHE must be tired.”
“Mommy, the hairdresser came out of the salon in order to say, “Thank you very much! Why is that?”
Mm-hmm. Seeing the reactions of my daughters, I realized once again that Japan is indeed a culture of OMOTENASHI (hospitality).
PS. Everything is so yummy in Japan.
